Sweet gatherings of the past….

Join us at Yess Yoga June 21-June 23 for three days of practice in community. Something terribly powerful happens when you go deep for a few days. So many of us have been practicing alone since the pandemic began or even before. This is an opportunity for those of us who meet on zoom every week, or who have moved away, or haven’t been in touch for a while to relish being in each others presence, in yoga, together. Life rolls on: to get together once a year can return you to your practice and your heart. It gives you a space to touch base and to process everything that has happened. It allows you space to grieve. And a space to celebrate.

9 am - 6 pm Friday, Saturday and Sunday with a 90 minute lunch

$275 includes the space, the time, and the teaching. I will provide handouts of chants and poems and journal reflections and such. Not included are any meals, housing, etc. Yess is close to lots of food options, you have time to wander, and/or bring a lunch. Minneapolis in the summertime is wonderful for picnics and walks around the lake.

To join/pay, you’ll have to join the Yoga Club Mighty Network. This allows for easy payment processing and gives us an interactive space where you can chat with one another or ask me questions. You can continue to stay in touch through this platform if you like; or you can just pay and move on with your life.

Partial scholarships have been set aside for BIPOC, please email Karin to set up an interview and plan.

Rough schedule:

9-10:30 gathering and morning practice

10 minute break

then til lunch: processing and discussion.

After lunch: pick back up with the learning/connecting

Close the day with a wind-down practice. Expect myofascial release work, floor rolling, long savasana.

What to bring:

Whatever you need to stay comfortable, hydrated, warm or cool enough. Bring your mat if you can, but Yess has an abundance of props.

Loose topic: Sitting with the Truth, the Upanisads

Classic yoga meant gathering together with a teacher and discussing the philosophy, the meaning, the ways practice unfolds in real life and where it is going. The Upanisads are a vast collection of texts that all tell the same story: we can find truth and peace within, and thus live in the world more powerfully. There is a truth. The truth will set you free. Of course, truths are sometimes hard. The world is hard. In our times, ‘sitting with the truth’ has an awful lot of stresss, grief, realization and reconciliation to it. But it is the way.

I’ll tell some of these stories, and lean into the peace and what that means in an unfair world teaching. But don’t feel you need to be a philosopher, know Sanskrit, or understand for it to work.

Recommended (but certainly not required) book The Upanisads. You can read ahead to fuel your fire. Or have it for afterwards as a touchstone. You do not need to read this, ever. But for those who like words, this is a great start.
